Dr. David Wong: "Soup, Harmony and Disagreement"
From Jeffrey Yorgey on March 17th, 2017
The Philosophy Dept. welcomes Dr. David Wong for a lecture titled “Soup, Harmony and Disagreement”. Dr. Wong is visiting from Duke University as a Mellon Foundation Humanities Scholar in Residence.
Currently in the United States, fear of difference is threatening to dissolve into antagonism and social unrest. Wong will discuss how Confucianism uses ritual to foster a type of harmony that accepts, and even encourages, difference, and will apply these ideas to our current political situation.
