Our Brown Lecturer, Claudia L. Johnson, who is Murray Professor of English Literature at Princeton University, where she served as Chair of the English Department from 2004 until 2012. Johnson's publications include Jane Austen's Cults and Cultures, Equivocal Beings: Politics, Gender and Sentimentality in the 1790's, and Jane Austen: Women, Politics and the Novel. She has also prepared editions of Austen's Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey and (with Susan Wolfson) Pride and Prejudice.
